B.D.S (Adelaide, Australia)
Dr Yee graduated from the University of Adelaide, Australia with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S) in 2018. During her undergraduate years, she worked with patients from different demographics and socioeconomic backgrounds, having contributed her sevices in both town and rural practices. She was part of the dental team for the Special Olympics Australia National Games (2018), and volunteered her dental service for the refugees and asylum seekers in Adelaide.
With the different exposures and experiences throughout her years of work, Dr Yee believes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to dentistry. That good dentistry is about tailoring the treatment to the needs and priorities of the patient, whether it’s functionality, aesthetics or financial priorities, while keeping the patient’s best interest in mind. In order to achieve that, communication is the key.
With provision of high quality treatment being essential, Dr Yee also emphasises the communication process of treatment, making sure that patients know what options are available, and their respective pros and cons. Dr Yee is interested in restorative dentistry, namely prosthodontics (crowns/bridges, dentures), endodontics (root canal treatment), as well as paediatric dentistry.
QnA Section
Why did you become a dentist/hygienist?
I have always liked calligraphy and sketching since young; while also enjoying the thrills from solving equations and understanding how things work around us.
Combining my rather hands-on hobbies with my more theoretical interests (plus a few spinkles of the asian parent fairy dusts), Voila!
Jokes aside, I am really thankful that I get to do what I enjoy while being able to help others. Nothing beats seeing a patient leaving your chair smiling!
What do you do in your free time?
I enjoy listening to music, attending music gigs and concerts. I still sketch sometimes.
I’m currently trying to learn a new language.
What do you like most about your job?
Interactions with my patients. From 3-year-olds to 70-year-olds, everyone has interesting stories to tell.
Through having conversations with my patients, not only do I get to know my patients better, it helps me to see things in different perspectives too.
Why should you book an appointment with me?
Whether you’re coming in for a toothache, or a long overdue check-up because the dental chair is the last place you want to be, my patience, skill set and ability to work together with you would make your trip to the dentist very much less stressful than it has to be. I believe in working together with my patients to explore your needs and wants, providing realistic and honest inputs to all available options, and ultimately, making your dental journey a smoother one.
